NIH Network Study Reveals: Anti-HIV Therapy Appears To Protect Children’s Hearts

Baylor College, Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, and 6 other institutes collaborated with Steven E. Lipshultz, M.D from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Dr. Hazra from NHLBI in Bethesda in a Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study under National Institutes of Health (NIH). The research study indicated that the combination anti-viral therapy employed to treat HIV infection in infected children is protective against heart damage.
