Bad Cholesterol Genes Identified By Texas Biomedical Research Institute Researchers

The latest research conducted at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio has successfully identified the 4 culprit genes that can influence the serum concentration of bad cholesterol in baboons. It is suggested that the discovery will help in the development of pharmacological intervention to decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases in humans.

Methodist Hospital Research Institute, UK’s Swansea University Researchers Develop of Point of Care Diagnostics for Heart Disease Biomarkers

UT Southwestern Researchers Demonstrate Cancer Cure Via Mouse Model of Human Cancer

Scientists at the UT Southwestern Medical Center report the first successful blocking of tumor development in a genetic mouse model of an incurable human cancer, fruit of research funded provided by the National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, and the American Cancer Society.

Harris County Firearms Lab Joins Forensics Institute

In an effort to integrate its forensic science disciplines into a single, science-based organization, Harris County’s Institute of Forensic Sciences has announced plans to combine the Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s Regional Firearms Identification Laboratory with the rest of the Institute, which will enable it to provide the Sheriff’s department with improved firearms identification.
