The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston has acquired two Elekta Versa HD linear accelerators, with the hopes of being ready to treat patients with the systems by January of 2014. These Elekta Versa HD linear accelerators are equipped with the Agility multileaf collimator, which allows for a larger treatment area and more accurate tumor targeting for the beams.

Abilene Life Sciences Accelerator Facility to Potentially Receive New Name Along with Funding
Dallas-based consultant Lee Ann Woods has been working since October to come up with a new business model and strategic plan for Abilene and its current Life Sciences Accelerator Facility. The DCOA (Development Corporation of Abilene) just approved a plan to allocate $102,400 to implement this plan, part of which may include renaming the facility.
