Houston Researchers Demonstrate 3D Mammography Effectiveness

The medical director at TOPS and president of Houston Breast Imaging (HBI), Stephen L. Rose, MD, conducted a clinical study at the TOPS Comprehensive Breast Center, which confirms 3D mammography or breast tomosynthesis’ effectiveness in greatly reducing the number of unwarranted recalls while also enhancing breast cancer detection.

UTHSC President William L. Henrich Sojourns As MD Anderson Cancer Center Patient

My San Antonio’s Peggy O’Hare reports that University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio president William L. Henrich, M.D., 66, recently returned from an eight-month leave of absence after being diagnosed with myelodysplasia, a blood and bone marrow disorder that can sometimes lead to acute myelogenous leukemia.

Baylor Adds Famed Chemist as Professor to Meet the Growing Demand of Life Science Students

Baylor University is seeing an increasing number of health science students, with approximately 1/3 of all incoming freshman declaring a life science major. Dr. Lee Nordt, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, plans to meet the needs of these students by “making a concerted effort toward building health sciences for the next ten years.”
